PHILIPSBURG:--- Postal Services St. Maarten (PSS) N.V. will be joining 150 countries around the world in observance of World Post Day today, Thursday, October 9, 2014.
The postal authority will be treating its workers to snacks and refreshments to mark the day, following a brief message of congratulations to staff.
In keeping with the theme of giving, PSS N.V. will also host a meet and greet to visiting customers and clients who call into the Main Post Office location in Philipsburg, providing them with light refreshment and snacks as a meet and greet.
PSS N.V. is fully in support of this year's message from Universal Postal Union (UPU), Director General, Mr. Bashir Abdirahman Hussein in his call for: " governments to continue to invest in their national postal networks so that citizens and businesses can continue to benefit from a most essential and affordable public service."
PSS N.V. customers and staff can be assured that the company is fully exploring the huge potential of e-commerce and financial support services that new technologies can provide, offering a new lease of life to postal services on St. Maarten.
"We have some very exciting plans to modernize our service and maintain our relevance in a highly competitive globalized market in where the internet and web-based services have changed the landscape of postal service delivery to customers.
"In the coming days we will announce the opening of a new location for the Post Office at a strategic location on the island, along with further plans that we have to develop e-commerce across borders, all this while continuing to provide delivery of mails and packages to our network of customers on St. Maarten," said PSS.
