MARIGOT:--- French residents and businesses are at the mercy of France Telecom whose technicians on St Martin chose to abandon their clients claiming the damage in French Quarter and other areas on the French side is too catastrophic and they need reinforcement from Guadeloupe before they could even start restoring the fallen telephone lines throughout French Quarter and other areas. An agent of France Telecom told SMN News that the damaged sustained in certain areas is too much for them and St. Martin does not have the expertise necessary to restore and repair the telephone lines after the passing of Hurricane Gonzalo. Clients of Dauphin Telecom that are receiving internet through their telephone lines are now without phone and internet services for an unknown period of time.
