PHILIPSBURG:--- Ministry of Public Housing, Environment, Spatial Development and Infrastructure (VROMI) were on site during the course of last week guiding the progress of the Chincactus Road Drainage Project on Wednesday during the street leveling for basecourse, which will be followed by pouring of concrete road, offering the area a well-deserved facelift in the early new year.
The developing area, which includes Chincactus Road and Chincactus Drive underwent digging for the placing of 234 meters of drainage and 7 connecting catch pits that serve as access points in case of blockage and periodic cleaning to maintain flow of drainage.
The drainage stretches underground beginning at Sedums Drive (which sits on incline from the hillside) connecting to Chincactus Road where a catch basin was constructed for the water flowing off the hillside and continues along Chincatus Drive and exits at the Rolandus Kanaal, favorably eradicating the current hindrance of water flow in the street.
Public Works Project Leader, Alfredo Pantophlet, noted that the works would halt on December 19th and return on December 29 and 30 for continuation of the leveling and placing base course and commence again on January 5, 2015 for the final phase of the project.
