SUCKER GARDEN:--- The Walichi Basketball Association (WBA) & Motorworld and Jeep Presents Ladies Basketball Championship games continued last weekend after a quiet Week 9 where there was 1 game played and two games having to be forfeited due to lack of players.
In Week 9 Learning Unlimited went up against MGM Lightning and it was competitive for the first half where MGM Lightning lead by 7 (33-26). MGM Lightning dominated in the second half and won 77-40. Motorworld Player Of The Game went to Jamaiah Newton-Herbert who simply dominated the game on all ends with a LBC season record 39 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists and 8 steals. She was assisted by Shandria Lake with 18 points and 17 rebounds. Learning Unlimited was lead by Jakisha Brooks with 20 points and 7 rebounds and Rachael Degroot with 6 points, 8 rebounds and 6 steals.
Games continued this pass weekend with the first game on Saturday between Thunderz and Bush Tea Remedy. Thunderz lead 10-5 after the first quarter and never looked back and won 52-25.
Thunderz was lead by their point guards Chantel Hodge with 21 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals and Salammbo Guibert - Soutade with 14 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals. Chantel Hodge was named Motorworld Player Of The Game for her efforts.
Sunday's first game at 3 between Cash 4 Gold Lava Girls and Learning Unlimited was dominated by the balanced play of the Cash 4 Gold Lava Girls with 3 players with over 15 points in the 62-29 win. Wendy Jack, Motorworld Player Of The Game lead the way with 17 points, 11 rebounds, 9 assists and 7 steals. She was assisted by Diasha Ferdinand with 18 points and 5 steals and Selah Fleming with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Learning Unlimited was lead by Jakisha Brooks with 14 Points and 20 rebounds and Fabiana Richardson with 11 points and 3 assists.
The last game of the weekend was between the Thunderz and MGM Lightning. The game felt like a playoff game with so much tight and rough defense. The MGM Lightning team managed to lead 30-25 after the third quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead in the fourth and lost 40-35. The difference maker and subsequently Motorworld Player Of The Game went to Joyette Lloyd who had 13 points, 15 rebounds and 4 steals. Salammbo Guibert - Soutade assisted with 8 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. MGM Lightning was lead by Jamaiah Newton-Herbert with 17 Points, 11 rebounds, 2 blocks and 4 steals and Micaela Galva with 6 points, 3 rebounds and 7 steals.
After Week 10, the standings are Thunderz 10-1, Cash 4 Gold Lava Girls 8-2, MGM Lightning 6-4, Learning Unlimited 1-9 and Bush Tea Remedy 1-10.
Games continue this Saturday with Bush Tea Remedy taking on MGM Lightning at 6pm and on Sunday MGM Lightning taking on Learning Unlimited at 3pm followed at 5pm by the two top teams Cash 4 Gold Lava Girls versus Thunderz.
