Day Two annual SMSEF Interscholastic soccer tournament.

The circumstances at the Johan Cruijff Court in Belvedere were excellent with an overcast sky most of the day and a little bit of rain early in the morning. A large crowd of spectators supported the teams throughout the day. The twelve scheduled games were played according to schedule between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Results of Saturday January 31, 2015:

Game 1: category 13+U
Leonald Connor vs Learning Unlimited: result 10 – 1 (at halftime 4 – 0)
Top scorers Leonald Connor: Isael Medina-Bran with 5 goals and 1 assist and Gamy Charles with 2 goals and 1 assist.
The lone goal scorer for Learning Unlimited was goalkeeper Maximo Lanari with a penalty kick. Maximo did a great job protecting the L.U. goal, nevertheless he was not able to keep the ball from reaching the back of the net all the time. He did however stop 80% of the shots taken at the goal, showing outstanding goal keeping techniques.

Game 2: Category 13+U
Oranje School vs Ruby Labega: result: 0 – 14 (at halftime 0 – 8)
Top scorers Ruby Labega: Ricardo Somers with 5 goals and Eldon Morgan with 4 goals.
Ruby Labega had a great debut participating in the SMSEF Interscholastic Tournament after a two years absence and were well organized and at full strength. Oranje School's team, who also made their debut this game, had some organizational issues and were only able to field five players. Contrary to the score, the Oranje School players put up a good fight. We are looking forward seeing the team at full strength in their next game.

Sr. Magda United Stars vs Dr. Martin Luther King: result 5 – 4 (at halftime 4 – 1)
Goal scorers Sr. Magda United Stars: Paul Speetjens with 2 goals and 1 assist; Jolian Peterson and Jeremy Hooi both with 1 goal.
Top scorer Dr. Martin Luther King: D'Angelo Thompson with 4 goals.
Sr. Magda United Stars had to work hard to keep Dr. Martin Luther King at bay in the second half against the unrelenting attacking spirit of D'Angelo Thompson. Sr. Magda missed Ernie Rombley who fractured his wrist on Opening Day.

Game 4: Category 11+U
Sr. Regina Goal Getters vs Sr. Regina United: result 9 – 5 (at halftime 4 – 1)
Top scorers Sr. Regina Goal Getters: Reshawn Eustase with 4 goals and 3 assists and William Mulder with 2 goals.
Top scorer Sr. Regina United: Divano Job with 2 goals.

Game 5: Category Girls 111+U
Learning Unlimited Goal Machines vs Sr. Magda FC: result 15 – 5 (at halftime 7 – 1)
Top scorers Learning Unlimited Goal Machines: Noah Ledee with 5 goals and 1 assist and Cade Leone with 3 goals and 1 assist.
Goal scorers Sr. Magda FC: Jamir Cuvalay with 3 goals and 2 assists and Malakhai Duzong with 2 goals.

Game 6: Category 11+U
Hillside Christian vs Dr. Martin Luther King: result 10 – 4 (at halftime 6 – 0)
Top scorers Hillside Christian: Ibrahim Adel with 6 goals and 1 assist and Desreena Boston with 2 goals and 1 assist.

Game 7: Category Girls 13+U
Dr. Martin Luther King vs Sr. Regina: result 6 – 6 (at halftime 2 – 2)
Top scorer Sr. Regina: Maeve de Bruijne with 5 goals and 1 assist.
Top scorer Dr. Martin Luther King: Rineli Sparen with 3 goals.
Both teams fought hard to get the win but ended up with a well-deserved tie.

Game 8: Category 9+U
Sr. Magda Athletics vs Dr. Martin Luther King: result 6 – 1 (at halftime 3 – 0)
Top scorers Sr. Magda Athletics: Miguel Gittens with 3 goals and Salim Fleming with 2 goals and 1 assist. Playmaker Gianni Fer was instrumental in Sr. Magda's win by creating numerous opportunities for his teammates while scoring a richly deserved goal of his own in the end.
The lone goal scorer for Dr. Martin Luther King was Jahvarry Labega.

Game 9: Category 9+U
Sr. Regina Masters vs Learning Unlimited: result 2 – 3 (at halftime 2 – 1)
Top scorer Sr. Regina Masters: Alexander Mulder with 2 goals.
Top scorer Learning Unlimited: Connor Scripps-Ewing with 3 goals.

Learning Unlimited Strikers vs Sr. Regina: result 1 – 2 (at halftime 0 – 0)
Goal scorer Learning Unlimited Strikers: Landon Scripps-Ewing
Goal scorers Sr. Regina: Jerrol Halley with 1 goals and 1 assist, and Jabari Illidge with 1 goal.

Game 11: Category 7+U
Dr. Martin Luther King vs Sr. Magda Greenboys: 4 – 2 (at halftime 1 – 1)
Goal scorers Dr. Martin Luther King: Shaney Joachim with 2 goals; Jahzeel Niles and Kymani Rize both with 1 goal.
Goal scorers Sr. Magda Greenboys; Elaijah Baker and Analiesa Rombley both with 1 goal.
Dr. Martin Luther King displayed girl power at its finest with the many girls in their 7+U team representing the school showing once again that soccer is definitely also for girls. It was a close game until the last seconds of the game when Dr. Martin Luther King scored the fourth goal directly followed by the final whistle of the referee.

Game 12: Category 7+U
Leonald Connor vs Sr. Magda Rockstars: 4 – 2 (at halftime 2 – 0)
Goal scorers Leonald Connor Shamar Weekes with 2 goals and Keniyon James with 1 goal. The fourth goal in favor of Leonald Connor was an own goal, which opened the score.
Goal scorer Sr. Magda Rockstars: Hjalmar Cuvalay with 2 goals of which one was a penalty kick.
