PHILIPSBURG:--- The Ministry of Health and Social Affairs headed by Peggy Ann Dros- Richardson signed-an Memorandum of Understanding on Wednesday morning with the Mental Health Foundation. Dros- Richardson said the signing of the MOU is indeed a milestone for the Ministry since it has been about three years now that the Department of Social Affairs have been placing persons that need mental care at the Mental Health Foundation. Dros- Richardson said she felt it was indeed necessary to have an MOU with Mental Health in order to have things properly structured. She said by having such the Department of Social Affairs will know its role and so is the Mental Health Foundation. Acting Minister of Health and Labor Rita Bourne Gumbs commended the Department for the initiative they have taken to structure the services offered by the Department of Social Affairs. Signing on behalf of the Ministry was Head of Labor and Social Affairs Peggy Ann Dros-Richardson, Minister Rita Bourne Gumbs and representative of Mental Health Foundation Pyt Lucas.
