St. Dominic High School to hold School-wide Science Fair

PHILIPSBURG:---- St. Dominic High School has embarked on a school wide science fair to begin Thursday February 26 and ending Friday February 27. All students from Forms 1 to 4 and IB yr 1 will be participating in the school science fair.
On Thursday, February 26 at 11:00 a.m., the students will set up their presentations to prepare for the stand alone assessments. On Thursday from 5:00-7:00 p.m., during the school's report card evening parents can view the exposition. Round 2 of the judging will take place on Friday February 27, between 8:00 and 11:00 am. The exposition will be open to students, teachers, parents and the general public form 12.30- 2.00pm in rooms 12 and 13.
This year's science fair focuses on self-directed learning as students demonstrate their skills in collaborating with others, practicing scientific investigations and problem-solving. They will be challenged to improvise when a procedure doesn't work out as predicted, present science findings to others, and constructively critique each other's work. While students learn the numerous theories and fundamentals of science in the classroom, the science concepts become valid as students attempt to apply the theories they have learned to prove a hypothesis or even to create or invent solutions to real world problems.
