President Elect Henrietta Doran York

PHILIPSBURG:--- Former Deputy Minister of Plenipotentiary Henrietta Doran York was elected by majority to be the next president of the Windward Islands Civil Servant and Private Sector Union (WICSU/PSU). Doran York a new comer in the unionism received 133 votes while Denisio Conner who have been a member of the WICSU/PSU for the past 18 years and 10 years on the GOA got 71 votes. Riegnald Arrindell was elected General Secretary with 140 votes while the treasurer Francisco Mariana received 140 votes. Efforts made to reach Doran York on Friday evening proved futile.
In an invited comment Conner first thanked the members who voted for him. Conner said that he has accepted the results of the voters and believed that he must clear the way so that the new team can to do their best to represent the workers who have not gotten representation during the last term. Conner said he intended to resign from the WICSU/PSU as early as Monday so that the new team can have space to represent and defend the members of the WICSU/PSU. "I believe that I should not be a hindrance to the team that was duly elected on Friday." He said that he has a few more years in government and it is good that someone that is younger than him got a chance to serve their people.
