Convicted felon caught on French side with firearm, convicted to 10 months in Basse Terre, 22 months by Court of First Instance.

glock13072015MARIGOT/PHILIPSBURG: --- 31 year old Brian Henson is now serving a 10 months prison sentence in Basse Terre, Guadeloupe for possession of an illegal firearm.
Henson was arrested on July 2nd 2015 by the Gendarmes who were conducting an investigation relating to violence. According to the press release the suspect who was not identified by the Gendarmes was caught with .38 caliber GLOCK at the time of the search.
The Gendarmes stated in their press release that the suspect was sent to Basse Terre where he appeared before a judge and was sentenced to 10 months for the possession of an illegal firearm.
SMN News contacted the Gendarmerie on Sunday for further information on the suspect and was told the suspect was born in 1984 and is of Dutch nationality. The Gendarmes refused to release the identity of the suspect even though they were asked if the convict carries the initials B.H.
Brian Henson was convicted earlier this year by the Court of First Instance to 22 months imprisonment in abstentia, however, it is not clear why the prosecutor’s office on the Dutch side of the island did not issue an arrest warrant for the convicted felon.
Prosecutor Karola Van Nie confirmed on Sunday that Brian Henson was indeed sentenced earlier this year but she could not confirm if the French authorities had notified the Dutch prosecutor’s office of Henson’s arrest and subsequent conviction in Basse Terre.
