Second Suspect in Ore Diamante Robbery and Shooting Arrested Monday Night (UPDATED)

arrestedfillin26092014St. Peters: --- Police arrested the second suspect  that was involved in the armed robbery and shooting that took place last Wednesday at Ore Diamante Jewelry store that claimed the life of bike patrol Gamali Benjamin. SMN News learnt that the second suspect who is an accomplice is known to everyone as Jamal.

Police later confirmed the arrest of  the second suspect along with three other persons who were helping him to hideout.  However, well-placed sources said that the arrest was made in the St. Peters area Monday night. Meanwhile the suspect Kilo Gotti is still nursing gunshot wounds he recieved on the day of the shooting at the St. Maarten Medical Center.

 Press Prosecutor Karola Van Nie identified the suspect as 20 year old J. L. Prosecutor Van Nie told SMN News in an invited comment that based on all the tips and information the investigating team gathered through non-stop investigations  gave them enough evidence to arrest the persons they have in custody. So far six persons have been arrested in this high profile investigation for the fatal shooting and robbery that took place at Ore Diamante. The first suspect that was arrested on the day of the shooting is still nursing gunshot wounds at the St. Maarten Medical Center. Van Nie said that suspect will be having his pretrial detention extended probably on Wednesday. He is charged with murder/manslaughter. In the meantime the second suspect and those that aided and abbetted him should be going before the judge of instruction Wednesday afternoon or Friday morning since all criminal hearings scheduled for Thursday have been postponed to accomodate the funeral services of officer Gamali Benjamin.

Arrests made in robbery case in which 'Benji' was shot

Last night, on Monday August 10th, after days of thorough research, the members of the Investigating Team that's handling the case of the robbery of jewellery store 'Ore Diamante' managed to arrest four suspects that might have something to do with the robbery and the shooting of police officer Gamali Benjamin.

The arrest took place in St. Peters area around 8.30 pm on Monday night.

The people that were arrested are all young male suspects in their early twenties . Three of them were arrested for hiding a wanted suspect of a severe criminal act and the fourth one was arrested because he's suspected of being an accomplice in the murdering/manslaughter of police officer Gamali Benjamin and committing an armed robbery resulting in death.

The arrests were made without any resistance from the suspects. They were transported to the Philipsburg Police Station where they were put into custody for further investigation. In connection with sensitivity of this investigation no more information will be given at this time.
