Pointe Blanche:--- A fight between three inmates at the Pointe Blanche House of detention has left one of the prisoners injured who was transferred to the St. Maarten Medical Center for emergency treatment. According to information SMN News received states that the fight broke out around 10am Friday morning between three inmates and one of them was stabbed and had to be rushed to the St. Maarten Medical Center.
Efforts made to reach Prison Director Edward Ruan proved futile. SMN News tried contacting press prosecutor Karola van Nie for a statement on the prison fight but the press prosecutor also could not be reached.
Police Spokesman Ricardo Henson confirmed that an incident took place at the Pointe Blanche House of Detention and Police Officers had to visit the scene where they conducted a search at the House of Detention. Henson said after the search was conducted police did not find anything illegal. The police spokesman refused to divulge any information on the prison fight stating that members of the media has to find a way to obtain relevant information from the Prison Director Edward Ruan.
