Shooting in Union Farm --- Neighbors fight led to shooting.

shootingfillin11102012PHILIPSBURG:--- A fight between two neighbors left one man with gunshot wounds in Union Farm, Tuesday evening. SMN News understands that two neighbors were fighting and during the scuffle one of them shot the other. It is understood that the victim was transported to the St. Maarten Medical Center while the suspect was arrested on the spot and the gun used to shoot the victim was also seized. A Police source said that the victim did not receive any life threatening wounds.

Detectives are presently investigating a shooting which took place on Tuesday October 20th at approximately 07.10 p.m. at a home on Monte Video Road in Union farm. The Emergency Central Dispatch who received this call immediately sent several police patrols, Detectives, Forensic Department and paramedics to the scene, to investigate what had taken place.
On the scene the investigating officers learnt that an old and still ongoing feud between neighbors had escalated this evening and gotten out of hand, at which time one neighbor took his rifle and shot the other neighbor in his stomach. The male victim was treated on the scene by paramedics and then taken to the Sint Maarten Medical Centre for further treatment. The suspect, who was still on the scene, was immediately arrested. The rifle which was used in this shooting was confiscated for further investigation.
The crime scene was closed off and the Forensic Department was collecting evidence while the detectives were questioning witnesses to piece together what exactly happened. The male suspect was taken to the Philipsburg Police Station where he remains in custody for further investigation.
The condition of the victim was unavailable up to press time. When this information becomes available the media will be informed.
