PHILIPSBURG:--- With less than 24-hours before the all-encompassing Job Fair to be held on October 24th from 10am to 4pm at the NIPA Institute, the St. Maarten Hospitality & Trade Association announces that 100+ vacancies from the various participating businesses have been inventoried. The SHTA, which has partnered with Department of Labor Affairs ‘Start Here’ Campaign, is designed to create multiple avenues for employment seekers to successfully find employment within all industries on St. Maarten.
With actual vacancies from a cross section of the industries on St. Maarten, SHTA and the Department of Labor Affairs would like to encourage job seekers to attend the fair. The vacancies presented by the companies range from line workers in the hospitality industry to Financial Management positions and every level and branch in between. The list of vacancies will be prominently posted in the various areas at the venue for job seekers to efficiently peruse the various participating businesses.
Windward Roads, Divi Resorts, FKG Yacht Rigging & Marine Fabricating, CC1 St. Maarten, Port of St. Maarten, The Mailbox, Sonesta Hotels, Divico, Aquamania, Oyster Bay Resort, Prime distributors, Simpsonbay Resorts, Holland house Beach Resort, The Westin Dawn Beach Resort & Casino, Thrifty Car Rental will all be on hand to provide more information on their respective job-openings. In addition businesses will be able to conduct on the spot interviews with potential employees. Pre- Registered job seekers will have the added advantage of being able to meet with potential employers right away. “We are very happy to see so many employers interested in participating and providing their vacancies. This clearly indicates to us as an association that there is a need to bridge the gap between job seekers and the business community” said SHTA.
The Department of Labor Affairs, has also provided an extensive list of vacancies for the job fair. The Department has pre pre-screened and cross referenced persons with the available vacancies throughout the industries. This Private-Public Partnership further expands both the Association and the Department’s desire to assist as many persons as possible in finding gainful employment.
As part of preparing and/or encouraging job-seekers to be properly prepared for their interviews and/or application procedure, Educational Sessions will be available for each job seeker. Don’t have a resume? No problem! There will be the opportunity to create or upgrade resumes on the spot at the fair. “It would be beneficial for each person to attend one of the educational sessions. The useful information that is being provided by the session’s facilitators will assist job seekers in their application procedure. Thus increasing their chance of success” said SHTA Job Fair organizers. Educational institutes such as the University of St. Maarten and the Inter-Continental University of the Caribbean (ICUC/Cruises) and NIPA will also be represented at the fair to provide job Seekers with relevant information regarding upgrading courses and studies.
Registration for both job seekers and businesses can still be done at the SHTA office on the Pondfill, today Friday October 23rd. Job seekers who were not able to pre-register will have the opportunity to do so upon entrance to the Job Fair.
