Shoppers urged to park on Ring Road during the holiday season.

angelmeyers09122015PHILIPSBURG:--- Minister of VROMI Angel Meyers announced on Wednesday that the Ministry of VROMI are looking at ways to alleviate the traffic congestion in the Philipsburg area during the holiday season. Minister Meyers said he aware of the chaotic traffic situation, therefore the Ring Road will be opened for one way traffic starting from the salt-pickers round about to further up the Pondfill. Minister Meyers also stated that more parking will be created along the ring road and urged that shoppers park on the ring road since it will be impossible for them to find parking in Philipsburg during the holiday season.
On another topic the Minister said that the stop lights in the vicinity of the Prins Bernard bridge needs urgent repairs, he said the traffic lights is very old and has outdone its time but government has hired the services of a company that is busy accessing the repairs of the stop-light.
As for Front Street he said that the St. Maarten Harbor Group of Companies will finance the repairs of Front Street as they are the ones that finance the beautification project on Front Street some years ago.
