During her video address to the Stichting Souliga Student Forum, the Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams announced that she will be signing an agreement with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for the development of a National Development Plan for St. Maarten. "I am pleased to inform you that in a couple of days I will be signing an agreement with the UNDP for the development of a national development plan (NDP) for St. Maarten, which will include all facets of development of our nation and its people. This development plan will demand of all of us some critical thinking about the St. Maarten we want to see in the coming decade and beyond", commented the Prime Minister to a group of young St. Maarteners living and studying in the Netherlands who were present at the Forum which was held in Bodegraven, the Netherlands. "We have joined the 'big league' and as a country we are firstly responsible for guaranteeing and reporting on human and social rights' achievements of our society. We are called to measure and report on our performances in these areas and in doing so take a critical look at the sustainable development issues of our country, laying the foundation for future generations," she concluded. The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) is the United Nations' global development network, it advocates for change and connects countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. UNDP operates in 177 countries, working with nations on their own solutions to global and national development challenges.
