PHILIPSBURG:--- The people have spoken and we listened; no longer will the arriving passengers have to cue in long lines on the outskirts of the terminal building, as they gradually make their way to the immigration booths as they depart their aircraft. The practice became a growing pattern, since the airport's operations returned to the terminal building post-hurricane, with only 35% of the damaged building in use.
We are elated to divulge that the Management Board of the SXM Airport officially approved the go-ahead to implement the new Arrival Transit Corridor at the Arrival Hall, which officially went live on Saturday, January 18, 2020.
While the transit passengers make their way to the security checkpoints, the visitors and residents can now join an alternate cue onto the immigration booths.
The task of the strategic throughput was given to the Operations and Technical Management and later facilitated by the Projects, Planning and Systems Control department (PPS) to ensure its success to expedite the passenger flow. This initiative will add to the ever-evolving Passenger Improvement plan by the government-owned company.
On behalf of the Managing Board of the Princess Juliana International Airport, we appreciate your patience as we Rebuild, Recover, Reinvent...Forward Together.
