Community advised to monitor the progress Potential Tropical Cyclone #6 east of the Lesser Antilles

PHILIPSBURG (DCOMM):---The Fire Department/Office of Disaster Management (ODM) Fire Chief Clive Richardson is calling on the community to closely monitor the progress of Potential Tropical Cyclone #6 (TC#6) that is expected to pass approximately 120 miles south of Sint Maarten on Tuesday.

Chairlady of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), Prime Minister Hon. Silveria Jacobs, on Monday evening, said: “Residents are requested to remain vigilant and prepared at all times, ensuring to stay tuned to Government-authorized broadcasts to monitor this and all pending tropical systems.”

According to the Meteorological Department of Sint Maarten (MDS), TC#6 is forecast during its passage to bring rainfall amounts of about 1-2 inches, wind gusts up to 30 mph and thunderstorms from early Tuesday morning through Wednesday.

MDS adds that street flooding is likely and a small craft
advisory is in effect for above normal seas. Residents of Sint Maarten are encouraged to monitor the updates from the Meteorological Department closely.
