KPSM intensifies controls following period of heightened emergency and event support.

policecontrols23062025PHILIPSBURG:--- The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) has resumed intensified preventive and safety patrols across the island, following a month of increased involvement in emergency response and major public events.

KPSM officers were actively engaged in managing multiple emergency incidents and ensuring public order and safety during a series of high-profile shows and gatherings. With these events concluded, KPSM has now returned full focus to community safety and proactive crime prevention.

As part of this renewed focus, officers from various control teams conducted several operations in the Sucker Garden, A. Th. Illidge Road, the Dutch Quarter, Maho, Simpson Bay, and Cole Bay areas during the evening hours over the past week.

On Friday, June 20, 2025, one of the KPSM control teams stopped and inspected 17 vehicles. These controls focused on narcotics, firearms laws, and vehicle technical compliance. Six fines were issued for various violations, and several drivers received official warnings.

Later that same evening and into the early hours of Saturday, officers conducted additional checks in various districts. During this operation, 80 vehicles were stopped. Two individuals were arrested for possession of narcotics.

KPSM emphasizes that these types of controls will continue in the coming days as part of its commitment to maintaining public safety and security. Motorists are reminded to carry all valid vehicle documentation with them at all times to avoid delays or inconveniences during police checks.

The public's cooperation is greatly appreciated as KPSM continues to work towards ensuring a safer Sint Maarten for all.
