KPSM Issues Alert: Beware of Door-to-Door Jewelry Scam.

PHILIPSBURG:--- The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) is warning residents about a door-to-door jewelry scam that has been reported across the island.

According to multiple accounts, two male suspects—described as appearing to be of Latin descent—are targeting homes under the pretense of offering jewelry-related services such as cleaning, inspection, or authentication. Once victims hand over their jewelry for “examination,” the suspects flee with the valuables before the homeowners realize they’ve been deceived.

KPSM is urging the community to remain vigilant and take precautions to avoid falling victim to this scam.

Safety Tips:

  • Do not allow strangers into your home to examine or clean valuables.
  • Never hand over jewelry or personal items to unknown individuals.
  • Politely decline and close your door if approached by unsolicited visitors.
  • Report suspicious activity immediately to the police.

What to Do If Approached:

If you encounter these individuals, take note of their physical appearance, clothing, and any vehicle or mode of transport they may be using. Contact KPSM immediately at +1 (721) 542-2222 or call 911.

If You’ve Been a Victim:

If you have fallen victim to this scam or have information that could assist investigators, don't hesitate to get in touch with the Police Force of Sint Maarten at +1 (721) 542-2222 or submit an anonymous tip via the KPSM tip line at 9300.

KPSM is also encouraging residents to share this warning with family, friends, and neighbors—especially elderly individuals who may be more vulnerable to such schemes. Stay alert and help spread the word to protect our community.
