PHILIPSBURG:--- In the early morning hours of Monday, September 14, 2026, shortly after 1:00 a.m., police officers conducting controls on Zagers-Gut Road intercepted a white Kia Seltos previously identified in a video circulating on social media.
The video showed a group of men displaying several firearms on Sint Maarten. During the police control, officers recognized the vehicle and stopped it near the intersection of Zagers-Gut Road and Coralita Road.
When officers stopped the vehicle, the driver exited while carrying a firearm. Officers immediately instructed him to place the weapon on the ground, which he did. Police subsequently secured the firearm.
Police immediately arrested the driver, identified by the initials J.J.B., who is known to the police. Police also took the passenger, identified by the initials C.E.D., into custody.
Both men were transported to the police station in Philipsburg, where they remain detained for questioning in connection with the firearm possession. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the firearm and the video is ongoing.
