CCISM urges Saint-Martin Beekeepers to declare hives before December 31

beekeepers23102026MARIGOT:--- The Chambre Consulaire Interprofessionnelle de Saint-Martin (CCISM) reminds beekeepers on the French side of the island to submit their annual hive declarations by December 31, 2026, and encourages them to help build a clearer picture of the local beekeeping sector.

In a press release issued October 23, the chamber said the declaration requirement applies to both professional and amateur beekeepers, including anyone keeping just one bee colony.

According to the CCISM, the annual process supports monitoring bee populations, surveying colony health, and better understanding beekeeping activity across the territory.

Declarations can be submitted online through the French Ministry of Agriculture’s official portal, www.mesdemarches.agriculture.gouv.fr, or using a paper form. First-time applicants can also obtain their beekeeper identification number, known as a NAPI, through the process.

Beyond the annual requirement, the CCISM wants to strengthen communication with local beekeepers and identify the support they need.

The chamber said information about the size, characteristics, and needs of Saint-Martin’s beekeeping sector remains limited. Identifying who is involved, understanding their operations, and documenting the difficulties they face would provide a foundation for more appropriate assistance.

Professional and hobbyist beekeepers are therefore encouraged to contact the chamber both for help with their declarations and to discuss their activities, challenges and opportunities for development.

The initiative forms part of the CCISM’s broader effort to improve its understanding of local agricultural activities and support their organization and growth.
