House Searches Conducted in Cupe Coy and Billy Folly Road --- One Arrested, Stash Found, Chief Prosecutor Silent.

Philipsburg:--- The Prosecutor's office along with the judge of instruction and a number of police officers conducted two house searches on Thursday and Friday. According to well placed sources, the searches were conducted at a home on Billy Folly Road in Pelican on Thursday and the other in Cupe Coy on Friday afternoon. SMN News has been informed that the search took several hours on Friday and it was completed around 11pm that night. According to information provided to SMN News, the acting judge was not available at the Court of First Instance on Friday to perform his regular duties due to the amount of hours the search took.

SMN News learnt that the police and prosecutor are busy investigating a very sensitive case which might be drug related and they found some of what they were looking for at the home in Cupe Coy while nothing of interest was found at the home on Billy Folly Road Pelican.

SMN News made several phone calls to the Chief Prosecutor Hans Mos on Sunday to obtain a statement on the information provided to SMN News, but Mos did not answer his phone, it was later understood that Mos is currently off island. Chief Prosecutor Hans Mos is the prosecutor responsible for releasing information to the media regarding high profile cases.

The prosecutor that is leading the investigation Dounia Benammar released information to SMN News on Sunday which states that the investigation is being conducted by the KPSM and the RST. According Benammar's information, several houses were searched on Thursday and Friday after police received some valuable information. The SWAT team of the KPSM is part of the investigation and they arrested one male who is not from St. Maarten. Police also confiscated a large sum of money, an amount of firearms, and other items that are of interest to them. The investigation is in full swing at this moment and is ongoing. The Prosecutor's office has promised to release further information at a later date.
