michaelgrainville13102011Marigot/Philipsburg:--- The main culprit that is suspected of killing Michael Grainville (31) on October 9th, 2011 was arrested by the Gendarmes since December 1, 2011. SMN News has been reliably informed that the suspect is someone that is very young and was caught with the late Michael Grainville's vehicle that was stolen during the armed robbery that took place in Maho. Even though Chief Prosecutor Hans Mos was informed of the suspect's arrest, Mos did not release any information to the press. The arrest of the suspect and solving of 15th murder that took place on the Dutch side of the island in 2011 was kept under the rug probably because the arrest was not done on the Dutch side of the island. SMN News learnt that even though the suspect was caught with Grainville's vehicle he is not cooperating with investigators. Therefore, the Dutch side had to provide the French side with major forensic information that tied the suspect to the killing of Michael Grainville. One source said that the arrest of the suspect was kept under the rug until the French and Dutch side could have provided sufficient proof to show that the person behind bars is the one who robbed and killed the Crystal Bug employee.

Michael Granville's body was found during the early morning hours of October 9th 2011 in the Maho area. Grainville was a resident of Grand Case and an employee (exterminator) of Crystal Bug.

At the time of his death, the police doctor declared Grainville's death as that of natural causes but shortly after the doctor realized that the victim was killed by a gunshot wound to his chest.

It is believed that Grainville was attacked around 8am that morning by the suspect or suspects who shot him and stole his vehicle. When his body was found, blood was flowing through his mouth and there were no clear signs of injuries to his body.

A reliable source close to the investigation said that the Dutch and French side Police worked together closely on this case to solve it. The source further explained that just some weeks ago the Dutch side provided some forensic information to the French authorities that helped them to further pinpoint the suspect whom it is said is from French Quarter and someone that is very young. It is not yet clear to authorities if the suspect acted alone or if he had accomplices.

SMN News learnt that the officers that worked on the crime scene on October 9th, 2011 managed to properly secure the scene which assisted them greatly in identifying the culprit through forensics.
