The week started off with a church service on Sunday at the Good News Baptist church in St. Peters, during which Pastor Webster gave a stirring sermon, reminding fire fighters of their duty to serve and at the same time reminding the congregation of the danger these men and women put themselves in every time they are called upon to protect the citizens and their properties.
"I encourage the population to recognize the service our firefighters perform as they sometimes put their own life in danger to save others.
I also encourage our citizens to take heed when the fire department issues notices. Following their advice, can save ourselves and the department a lot of trouble. And if you find yourself in an endangering situation, call for assistance, before it is too late.
To all firefighters and their families, have a good week and thank you for your service to our community," Prime Minister Hon. Sarah Wescot-Williams, said on Sunday.
