Understandably, it was difficult to choose the overall winner in each age category, as each essay showed the students' excellence in education and displayed their overall knowledge and awareness in the tourism industry, along with their creativity in problem solving.
First-, second- and third-place winners were chosen from the junior division, consisting of students between nine- and twelve-years-old, and the senior division featured students between thirteen and sixteen. The 2012 winners are:

The aim of the contest is to assist students in furthering their education while letting them think about their own destinations and its involvement in the tourism industry, along with providing an opportunity to problem solve for the real world. To reward all the students for their exceptional efforts, all other finalists will receive monetary awards of $200.
