Junior Officer (BAVPOL) Under Investigation.

Philipsburg:--- A BAVPOL Officer that is working with the Police Department has been detained and suspended pending the outcome of an investigation, confirmed Minister of Justice Roland Duncan. Minister Duncan said the police are conducting an investigation that involves a BAVPOL officer that is working with the Police Department. The Minister of Justice said he does not want to release the identity of the officer because he believes a person is innocent until proven otherwise. Minister Duncan further explained that when the BAVOL Officers were enrolled a complete screening process had taken place especially for those that are were assigned to the Police Department.
Police Spokesman Ricardo Henson said in a press release that the officer was arrested on Monday April 23, 2012. Henson identified the officer with initials E.V whom he said has been arrested as a suspect in an ongoing criminal investigation which was committed in the year 2009. During the initial investigation, there was no obvious link between the criminal offense and this person. As a result of the persistent investigation and a new investigative method within the department (case screening) done by the Detectives and Police Internal Affairs, E.V. was identified as the suspect of a crime committed prior to his enrollment into the police force. E.V. in the meanwhile has been suspended from carrying-out his duties pending the results of the investigation.
