Atlantis Owner Ducking Interpol --- Cannot be Found on St. Maarten --- Italy placed Francesco Corallo’s name on Interpol wanted list.

Philipsburg:--- Francesco Corallo, known to be the owner of the Atlantis Casino in Cupecoy and the financier of several politicians on St. Maarten is now on the run. According to sources close to Corallo, he is nowhere to be found even though his business is fully operational. SMN News has been reliably informed that St. Maarten's Interpol division is busy looking for Corallo as they were alerted of an international arrest warrant that is out for his arrest. One of the difficulties law enforcement agencies are faced with is the current passport Corallo is using. It is known that Francesco Corallo is the holder of Dominica passport and one from Honduras while he is also a national of Italy.

According to information provided to SMN News, Corallo is wanted in Italy for tax fraud. The sources said that Corallo is suspected of corruption in connection with a loan of 148 million Euros from the Italian Banca Popolare di Milano (BPM) to the casino chain Atlantis-BP. Sometime in June 2012, Reuter's news agency published that Corallo was wanted in Italy but he later denied the allegation saying he is not involved in any type of corruption. At the time the news broke, St. Maarten had recently become a full-fledged member of Interpol and was not notified of the arrest warrant.

SMN News learnt that St. Maarten received notification of the arrest warrant issued by Italy some weeks ago but St. Maarten police and Interpol division are not able to locate the businessman on St. Maarten.

Several of his employees said that Corallo disappeared from St. Maarten about a month ago and they are not able to make contact with him by phone. Chief Prosecutor Hans Mos could not be reached on Sunday to confirm the information provided to SMN News.
