GREAT BAY (DCOMM):--- The Ombudsman Office recently signed a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the Director of the National Ombudsman of the Netherlands in The Hague.
The SLA allows for the National Ombudsman to render the Ombudsman of Sint Maarten human resources assistance for up to a period of six-months.
Ombudsman Dr. Nilda Arduin said on Friday that the SLA is a major step forward in the development of the countries own bureau.
The Ombudsman is tasked with investigating the conduct/behavior of Government and other Administrative bodies as a result of complaints or on own motion.
Governments must be held accountable in the relationship between citizen and government. The National Ordinance Ombudsman is meant to provide the citizen additional protection against conduct of government and to promote good governance.
Every person has the right to have his/her affairs handled impartially, fairly and within reasonable time by government; the right to good administration.
