St. Maarten to send Proposal to Curacao Caretaker Government on Central Bank --- St. Maarten will insist on strengthening its branch.

swescotwilliams08082012Philipsburg:--- The Prime Minister of St. Maarten Sarah Wescot Williams announced on Wednesday during the Council of Ministers' press briefing that the Council of Ministers has decided to send a letter to the Curacao caretaker government regarding the joint Central Bank. Wescot-Williams said the time is approaching for St. Maarten and Curacao to submit its agreement on the joint Central Bank to the Kingdom Council of Ministers. Wescot Williams said prior to the current political developments on Curacao the government of St. Maarten was planning to invite the government of Curacao to a meeting so that they could have come to an agreement on the Central Bank.

As it stands now, Wescot Williams said that government will send the Curacao caretaker government a proposal and still invite them to a meeting. St. Maarten she said will focus on having the branch of the Central Bank on St. Maarten properly built up so that it can function optimally. Wescot Williams said this is in keeping with the agreement St. Maarten and Curacao made when they promised the Kingdom Council of Ministers to send their agreement to them by their next meeting.
