Philipsburg:--- The Inspector General of Health and Labor Dr. Earl Best dispatched a letter to the Medical Director of the St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) Dr. George Scot informing him that the deadline for him to submit his comments on the draft report which was submitted to him on August 24th, 2012 has passed and there will be no extensions. When the draft report was compiled after a series of thematic inspections, Dr. Scot was given until September 7th to respond to Dr. Best's findings. Dr. Scot asked the Inspector General for an extension so that he could submit his comments but the inspector general has denied the request. According to reliable information provided to SMN News, the Inspector General asked the Medical Director to comment on four categories.
A well placed source said that Dr. Scot distributed the report one and half week after receipt to the doctors and specialists. The SMMC director submitted a letter to request more time on the day of the deadline which according to the inspector general does not demonstrate adherence to good governance.
