Philipsburg:--- The second round of GIFTED Inter-church basketball competition took place on Saturday, August 18, 2012. The first game between New Testament Baptist Church (NTBC) and Praise Tabernacle Church (PTC) was very intense from start to finish resulting in an overtime to decide winner. The game finished 27-24 as PTC came out as victors.The second game of the night was between the Seventh Day Adventist church (SDA) and Christian Assembly Ministry (CAM). This game was also very close down to the last second of the game. SDA won 33-32 despite the hard efforts made by CAM in the end of regulation being 4 points down.
Game 3 featured the undefeated Church of God (COG) against Christian Faith Ministries (CFM). COG maintained their winning streak as they won 33-30.
In the last game, SDA high intensity defense and well organized offense paid off as they defeated PTC 39-26. SDA would have to maintain that form when they meet CFM, the team that beat them already in the first round. This sets up to be a much anticipated re-match for the semi-finals.
GIFTED Inter-church basketball tournament resumes on Saturday, September 1st; where the finals will be played at Melford Hazel Sports Complex. The next event for GIFTED is the "Word Nerd" GLOW Party, featuring Curtis Jordan live and DJ Joshua DRJ Ferrol, at the John Larmonie Center on August 25th, 2012 starting at 7pm, with a "geek chic" dress code.
