Sharpless was released from prison over a year ago and was supposed to remain in Guadeloupe pending his murder trial. However, he managed to escape from the authorities in Guadeloupe to join his wife and two children in Auvergne, Central France who is there training at the expense of the Collectivity of St. Martin. Sharpless joined his wife in France in the month of September 2012 despite his wife's disapproval. SMN News learnt that the COM employee and wife of Jean Marc Sharpless wanted her husband to follow the letter of the law since he is awaiting a murder trial. SMN News further learnt that Sharpless and his wife began arguing about two weeks ago and at some point there was complete silence between them and he thought his wife had requested a divorce. On Tuesday night, Sharpless reportedly locked his wife in her room and began slapping her. He also beat her with a piece of wood taken out from their bed frame. "He even went as far as telling her to say goodbye to their twin daughters." His wife filed a complaint against Sharpless because she believed that their marriage and relationship ended that night in their Clermont apartment. Jean Marc Sharpless (Makaveli) was sentenced to nine months, three of which are suspended. He is also forbidden to contact his wife and when his stint in prison is over in France he will be sent back to Guadeloupe to stand trial for the murder of Rigobert Bertin Maurice, while he will also be charged for escaping from judicial authority.
