USM and JWU to reestablish working relationship.

usmrepsmeetwithjwureps22052014PHILIPSBURG:--- The University of St. Martin, Johnson and Wales University (JWU), and the Division Study Financing held an informative evening last night at the USM.

Present at the info session were prospective JWU students and their parents, Karen Codogan of the St. Maarten JWU Alumni Association and members of the Student Government Association/USM.

Under the current 2 + 2 program, Government of St. Maarten study financing recipients can earn their Associate's Degree at USM after which they are able to transfer to JWU and obtain their Bachelor's degree for only $5000 out of pocket expenses.

An agreement was made between the Dean of Academics and Mr. Jeff Greenip of JWU to work together on producing a joint brochure for USM and JWU.

In addition, Hospitality students at USM will have the opportunity to spend a semester at JWU, during their AA degree pursuits. The closer cooperation between JWU and USM has been welcomed by Mr. Antonio Aventurin and Mr. Calvin Mardembrough of the Division Study Financing.

Mr. Victor Silva, who is the Director of International Relations for Latin America and Caribbean, outlined the benefits of going to JWU and financial packages, which JWU has designated SXM to be one of its main partners, thus affording it a very beneficial financial package.

Besides the four campuses, the academic programs are well known. The student benefits range from small classes to having industry faculty to global perspectives.

The JWU operates on a trimester basis and a 4-day class week.

Their programs are: Business, Culinary, Hospitality, Arts & Sciences, Technology, and Graduate studies.
