Hotels to Receive Prestigious Green Key Award.

hollandhouse18052017PHILIPSBURG:---- The foundation Environmental Protection in the Caribbean (EPIC) and the Sint Maarten Hospitality and Trade Association (SHTA) will hold a ceremony for recipients of the International Green Key Award on the 1st of June, hosted at the Holland House Beach Hotel.
The two establishments that will receive the Green Key Award are Holland House Beach Hotel, which is obtaining the award for the first time, and Princess Heights Luxury Boutique Condo Hotel, which is being awarded for the third consecutive year.
The Green Key award is the leading standard of excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable practice within the tourism industry. This distinguished and internationally renowned ecolabel stands for the commitment by businesses that their establishment adheres to strict criteria. A Green Key stands for the promise to its guests that by opting to stay in a Green Key establishment, they are contributing to making a difference on an environmental level. The high environmental and hospitality standards expected of these hotels are maintained through rigorous documentation and scheduled audits.
EPIC is the National Operator of the Green Key eco-label on St.Maarten, which is available to local hotels, small accommodations, and restaurants. In addition, EPIC locally operates the global Blue Flag award for beaches, marinas and tour boats.
This event is a celebration of environmental achievement by two beautiful properties and also presents the opportunity for others to learn how to make their business more environmentally supportive and sustainable.
