PHILIPSBURG:--- Minister of Justice Rafael Boasman announced on Wednesday during the Council of Minister's weekly press briefing that persons who may be holding on to licensed firearms that belong to relatives that have passed away must turn in those weapons since firearms and its licenses are not hereditary. The Minister said persons caught with weapons that belong to people that have passed away can be charged with illegal possession of a firearm.
The Minister also shared concerns about the violent crime that was committed against the 84-year old senior citizen in Middle Region last Saturday. The Minister said this type of violence against an elderly is unacceptable and that even though these types of crimes do not occur every day it still cannot be tolerated. He expressed concerns about the behavior of criminals who prey on the innocent. The Minister also announced that he will be calling on his colleague Ministers of Education and Labor to conduct some sort of forum where information on proper human conduct can be shared.
