Appointment of temporary management CBCS.

tempmgmtcbcs14112017WILLEMSTAD, Curacao:--- With the retirement of Mr. Romero on 17 November 2017, the Supervisory Board (the "Supervisory Board") immediately commenced its appointment in August with the recruitment of two directors to fulfill the vacant positions within the council of the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (the "CBCS").
With the help of Hurricane Irma, the Supervisory Board has been unable to make recommendations on 2 October 2017 of six candidates (3 per vacancy) required by the Bank Statute to fulfill the two vacant executive functions (Director Secretary and Financial Economics Director). In view of the short term, the countries failed to appoint two new directors before 17 November 2017.
In order to prevent the CBCS from being steerless at any time, on November 13, the Supervisory Board decided to appoint Ms. Leila Matroos-Lasten and Mr. José Jardim to Directors of the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten. The period of this temporary appointment ends when the countries provide for a definite fulfillment of the functions.
Ms. Leila Matroos-Lasten is 43 years old and is a registry accountant. Mrs. Matroos has several executive positions at local reputable companies. Mrs. Matroos will be in the vacant post of Director Secretary with effect from 14 November. This function was previously fulfilled by Mr. Jerry Hasselmeyer.
Mr. Jardim is 44 years old and is an economist. Mr. Jardim has been promoted and has been a director of the Ministry of Finance in the past and has also served as Finance Minister. Mr. Jardim will be in the vacancy of the CFO as of 17 November. This function is now officially lined by Mr. Romero.
The President of the CBCS, Mr. Romero, will inform CBCS staff today.
