PHILIPSBURG:--- After completion of three grueling but rewarding days of the airbag inflator recalls at the Repair-A-Thon, the Honda team is pleased to announce that 171 airbag inflators have been replaced in 121 vehicles, some of which required replacement of both the driver and passenger side airbags. In addition, there were parts ordered for 12 vehicles, as well as 65 vehicles that were not affected, which results in an overall total of 198 vehicles that were handled over the course of the three days.
"We made these vehicles safe for our customers and improved our airbag inflator recall completion percentage on the island from 10.8% to 33.7%!" shared Mike Burke, Senior Manager of American Honda Motor company.
"It is truly remarkable. We are pleased that over 10 representatives from American Honda took the time to visit St. Maarten and work as a tight team along with our master technicians and staff. The smooth coordination allowed for an efficient process during the event. The momentum continues, as there are many more airbag inflators to be replaced in order to achieve the targeted goal of 100% repairs completed," said Jeet Persaud, Service Director, Motorworld.
All owners of 2001-2016 Honda and Acura vehicles could still qualify for the free replacement at Motorworld in Colebay. To verify, customers are encouraged to check their VIN numbers at www.hondastmaarten.com/recalls or, contact Motorworld at (721) 544-5294 ext. 113.
It is not a requirement for the vehicles to have been purchased at Motorworld, the official Honda dealer in St. Maarten. Honda cares about everyone's safety and are doing their utmost to continue to reach and repair all affected vehicles in the market. Residents are asked to spread the word and urge Honda and Acura owners, family and friends to take heed of this initiative, as it is critical to ensure the safety of all drivers on the road, and could essentially save lives!
