CPS calls on communities to clean-up to prevent mosquito breeding sites.

GREAT BAY (DCOMM):--- The Collective Preventive Services (CPS), a government department under the Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labour, to clean their yards and remove debris in order to prevent mosquito breeding sites.

Ministry of Public Housing, Environment, Spatial Development and Infrastructure (Ministry VROMI), has commenced with its annual hurricane season clean-up whereby various waste haulage companies throughout the residential districts in the country remove debris after homeowners have cleaned their yards of the aforementioned.

The female vector Aedes Aegypti mosquito spreads mosquito borne diseases. The Aedes Aegypti mosquito is distinguished by its markings such as alternate black and white horizontal stripes.

The Aedes Aegypti mosquito lays her eggs in clear (clean) stagnant water. Within eight days the mosquito can complete its life cycle from egg, to larvae to pupae and to adult mosquito.

Actively dispose of tin cans, old tires, empty paint cans, buckets, old saucers, flowerpots, cemetery urns/vase, old pet dishes, unused plastic swimming pools or other containers that collect and hold water.

We are in the hurricane season, and every household and business must do its part in keeping the country mosquito-free. During the hurricane season, weather systems bring rain and if you have items in your yard and around your business that can collect water, that becomes a potential mosquito breeding site.

Keep Sint Maarten mosquito-free.
The responsible waste haulage company, district and remaining schedule for the annual hurricane season clean-up that started from June 16 is as follows:
