French law enforcement officers have been busy investigating the lack of payment to all French hospitals in the French Caribbean that treated patients from the Dutch side of the island and were never paid for their services.
Just recently CHU Pointe A Pitre launched a case against Dr. Louis Jeffry while there is an ongoing investigation regarding the lack of payment to the Louis Constant Fleming Hospital. The French Health Care Services ARS also have been busy with this case.
At the moment law enforcement agencies are tightlipped about the detention of Dr. Louis Jeffry. As soon as the Prosecutor of Gendarmerie makes a statement this article will be updated.
SMN News wrote several articles relating to the lack of payment to LCF for Dutch side patients that were treated on the French side. At the moment Ducth side patients that are insured by USZV are denied treatment at LCF unless they pay cash.
USZV St. Maarten Social Insurance Bank made several payments to the association Observatoire St. Martin (OBS). Dr. Louis Jeffry created the association in 2010 and has been the president of the association that was intended to enhance healthcare cooperation between the French Caribbean Islands and Dutch St. Maarten.
In May 2018 SMN News published an article that stated that USZV has an outstanding bill at LCF for Euros 353,412.67. That sum has since increased and so far no payments were made by OBS or Careaway that is operated within the confines of LCF.

Vice Prosecutor Yves Paillard confirmed via press release that some five gendarmes conducted searches at the Louis Constant Fleming Hospital (LCF) on Monday morning. Paillard said that the searches were conducted between 10am and 1pm without incident.
The searches were conducted in the presence of the representative of the medical team and the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Paillard further states that the searches and arrest of at least one doctor is part of a preliminary investigation aiming at checking the relations between a doctor who is a member of the hospital medical commission and foreign companies as well as a subsidized association , which may be penalized in particular for illegal taking of interest. Paillard says the doctor remains in custody and enjoys the rights on the presumption of innocence and this is also understood by the gendarmes that are conducting the investigation.
