Police asking the community for assistance.

PHILIPSBURG:--- Detectives investigating the two separate stabbing incidents which took place in or around the area of the Festival Village on Tuesday, May 7th during the last lap Jump-up/ Burning of King Momo are asking the assistance of the community to solve these two criminal acts. Anyone who witnessed any of these incidents or have any other type of information to immediately get in contact with the Police Department by calling 54-22222 ext. 241/215, the emergency number #911 or even send a private message to the police Facebook page. Your assistance will be highly appreciated and remain totally confidential.

Man seriously ill-treated with a machete

On Sunday, May 12th at approximately 07.45 a.m. the Emergency Dispatch Centre received several calls of an altercation between two men which took place on Madrid Road lane I Dutch Quarter. During this altercation, the suspect used a machete to confront the victim causing him severe injuries. The victim suffered severe cuts to one of his arms from which he bled profusely. The victim was treated on the scene by paramedics and then transported to the Sint Maarten Medical Centre for further medical treatment. The suspect who is known to police fled the scene after committing and has not turned himself in. The reason for this ill-treatment is still unclear and the investigation into this case is ongoing.
