Tyson Foods Inc. has issued a recall of approximately 11.829.517 pounds of frozen, ready to eat chicken strip products. Reason for the recall is a potential contamination with pieces of metal. Some of these products might have been shipped to Sint Maarten.
The recalled products were produced between October 1st, 2018 and March 8th, 2019 and have “Use By Dates” of October 1, 2019 through March 7, 2020. On the back of the product package, establishment number “P-7221” is mentioned.
The affected products are branded under different names:
1. Tyson fully cooked crispy chicken strips/chicken breast strip fritters with rib meat;
2. Tyson fully cooked buffalo style chicken strips/chicken breast strip fritters with rib meat and buffalo style sauce;
3. Tyson fully cooked honey BBQ flavored chicken strips/chicken breast strip fritters with rib meat and honey and BBQ style sauce smoke flavor added;
4. Best Choice buffalo style chicken strips made with white meat chicken/chicken breast strip fritters with rib meat glazed in a buffalo style sauce fully cooked;
5. Great Value fully cooked chicken strips/chicken breast strip fritters with rib meat/crispy;
6. Food Lion crispy chicken strips fully cooked / chicken breast strip fritters with rib meat made with white meat chicken fully cooked / microwaveable;
7. Food Lion buffalo style chicken strips / fully cooked breaded chicken breast strips fritters with rib meat and glazed with buffalo-style sauce made with white meat chicken / fully cooked / microwaveable;
8. Meijer crispy chicken strips/chicken breast strip fritters with rib meat;

15. Kirkwood Buffalo-style chicken strips breast fritters with rib meat & buffalo style sauce;
16. Hannaford buffalo style chicken strips / fully cooked breaded chicken breast strips fritters with rib meat and glazed with buffalo-style sauce made with white meat chicken / fully cooked / microwaveable;

The Inspectorate has conducted the necessary checks to establish to what extent these products have entered the Sint Maarten market. In this respect, the authorities in the United States were also consulted and inspections were performed at both local importers and various supermarkets. A small amount of less than 25 recalled products were encountered. These were taken off the shelves and instructions to discard of them were given.
The Inspectorate has not received any complaints related to the recall yet. However, the Inspectorate informs all consumers not to consume any of products listed and will continue monitoring the local market.
