TelEm Group to carry out major data capacity upgrade this week.

PHILIPSBURG:--- TelEm Group’s Engineers and Technicians will be carrying out important data expansion works to the company’s broadband networks during the course of the week and say customers can expect brief interruptions in service as a result.

Day two, on Wednesday, will see the upgrade works being carried out during the same hours (11:00 pm – 5:00 am) on network equipment serving the following areas: Dawn Beach, Ebenezer, Cole Bay, Simpson Bay, and Belvedere.
The final day of works will take place on Thursday, again between the hours of 11:00 pm and 5:00 am, when final network configurations will be carried out and completed.
TelEm Group Project Manager, Mr. Jed Carty, who is coordinating the network upgrade and expansion, says customers may experience intermittent service throughout the times announced for the maintenance windows.
“Mobile Network customers and Dedicated Business Broadband subscribers will be affected by these intermittent interruptions while our ADSL, FTTH, and Voice subscribers can expect not to be affected,” said Mr. Carty.
The Project Manager and coordinator also announced that all emergency services, such as . the Ambulance Department, the St. Maarten Medical Center, the Police and the Fire Department will all remain in service during the entire period of the maintenance and expansion upgrades.
Mr. Carty said once the expansion and upgrade works have been completed, more data capacity will be available to meet the company’s continuing demand for bandwidth by commercial and residential subscribers.
“This is a very important and necessary upgrade which we will be carrying out in coordination with equipment vendors from overseas,” said Mr. Carty. He has meantime apologized on behalf of Management, TelEm Group, to customers who will be affected by this week’s network upgrade and expansion works.
