beachcleanup24092020PHILIPSBURG:--- On invitation from the President of Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunset Ms. Elicia Lake and her membership, members of the Sint Maarten Lions Club, St. Maarten South Leo Club, and St. Maarten Leo Club joined together for 2 hours for a beach clean up of Guana Bay Beach for International Coastal Cleanup Day 2020 on Saturday, September 19th, 2020. Other Rotary and Rotaract Clubs on St. Maarten along with private individuals and local sponsors joined this worthy cause in helping to keep the environment clean.
President of the Sint Maarten Lions Club, Alphons Gumbs said ”Because the environment is one of Lions Club International's core focus areas, it was a great collaboration between the various service clubs on St. Maarten in keeping a beach clean, while also doing a good project during our 50th Anniversary year. I also encourage the general public to do their part in not only keeping the island’s beaches clean but also your immediate business and house surroundings along with the rest of the island”.
The St. Maarten Lions Club hereby thanks the Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunset for their invitation to work on this International Coastal Cleanup project and looks forward to furthering collaborations with this and other clubs on projects that are worthwhile for the community of the St. Maarten.
