Philipsburg:--- Prior to the official launching of BBZ10 on St. Maarten which began one minute after midnight on Monday, officials of TELEM group of companies told reporters that the latest BlackBerry device comes with all the added applications. The device's keyboard is far more sensitive that the regular Blackberries and it also adapts to the users style of writing and way of typing. Owners of the new BBZ10 would have to deal with two or three weeks inconvenience as they try to learn all the added features of the BBZ10. However, by that time the mobile device will also fully recognize its owners and the services that are offered with BBZ10 will be far more technological since the new phone also has video services added to the BBM chat.
The device which has a very sensitive touch screen has the same copyright issues when it comes to downloading music and videos. Roberto Beretto channel manager of BBM RIM told reporters that the company is still negotiating with the copyright owners to see if it will be possible for BBZ10 users to download their favorite music and or video via their mobile device in the future. Baretto introduced reporters to some of the added features the latest BlackBerry smart phone has, he said it can do almost anything including video chat via the BBM chat service. Another cool service with BBZ10 is that BBM contacts can see what their friend or business partner has on their screen without having to download a file.
TELEM Group of Companies is urging BBM users to use their services for the BBZ10 because according to Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Brian Mingo the device works better with 3G which only available at TELEM. Persons that are interested in postpaid services can obtain a BBZ10 free of cost and get six months of 3G data service free if they sign a two year contract while prepaid users would have to pay $649.00 for the device plus but two months of 3G data service and they will obtain one month free data service.
At the press conference held at Festival Village on Monday afternoon, TELEM raffled one of the BBZ10 among media workers. The lucky winner of device was Pearl Radio. TELEM will make three BBZ10 available to media workers for a three day period so that reporters could experience the tools available with the BBZ10 then they would have to return the telephone to TELEM. The idea behind lending the new device to media workers is for media workers to further promote the sale of BBZ10 at TELEM.
Network Manager of TELEM Julian Lake said that TELEM has added more cell sites to their network to ensure that their customers get island wide services. Lake did not say how many more sites were added but he assured reporters that smart phone users will get better service.
Emile van der Weerd said that right now because of the free chatting on BBM, TELEM has 40% of its customers that are using the BlackBerry services. He explained that TELEM finds this to be profitable since Blackberry was only launched in 2009 on St. Maarten.
