GREAT BAY:--- AVS Live Political Debates on the parliamentary elections will be held Sunday, August 10, August 17 And Sunday, August 24 At The Belair Community Center In Cay Hill.
The debates will be aired via Sxm Cable TV Channel 120 and WTN Cable TV Carib Channel 10 and Will Stream Live via Avsnewsonline.com TV Channel.
On Saturday, August 2, the leaders or an authorizing representative of the six political parties were invited to an informative session regarding the rules & regulations of the debate by the organizing committee who consist Of Clarence Richardson, Chairman, Edward Benjamin, Vice Chair, Terry Woods, Member, Florence Marlin, Member And Mireya Ostiana, Member. The session was held at The Yogesh Commercial Complex on A.J.C. Brouwers Road. During the session the parties had the opportunity to ask questions as well. Five of the Six parties were present . Chairman of the committee, Clarence Richardson told AVS news in an invited comment on Saturday, that the meeting was very positive and that the party representatives understood what are expected of them.
In the first debate on August 10, all number 3 candidates from the five parties will be debating with each other. And those candidates are: Roy Marlin of the Democratic Party (DP), Silveria Jacobs of the National Alliance Party (NA), Anna Rabess-Richardson of The United St. Maarten Party (US), Franklin Meyers Of The United Peoples Party (UP) and Dennissen Philips of The One St. Maarten People Party (OSPP).
In the second debate on August 17, the number two candidates will be attendance, namely Regina Janga Of The One St. Maarten People Party (OSPP), Leona Marlin Of The United St. Maarten Party (US), Van Hugh Cornelius De Weever of The Democratic Party (DP), George Pantophlet of the National Alliance Party (NA) and Gracita Arrindell Of The United Peoples Party (UP).
The last debate on August 24 will feature all political leaders of the six parties. And they are; Sarah Wescot-Williams of The Democratic Party (DP), Jacinto Mock of The Social Reform Party (SRP), William Marlin of The National Alliance Party (NA), Theodore Heyliger of The United Peoples Party (UP), Leonard Priest of The One St. Maarten People Party (OSPP) and Frans Richardson of The United St. Maarten Party (US).
The first two debates which will be on Sunday, August 10 and 17 will start at 7 pm and end at 10 pm. And on August 24 the debate will start at 7 pm and end at 11 pm.
