DUTCH QUARTER:--- Police are busy investigating the death of a young girl from the Dominican Republic whose body was found in the trunk of a car early Tuesday morning in the Dutch Quarter area. The victim has been identified by residents as Lizcania Maduro (Liz) aka Beba Brumant (23) an employee (bartender) of Sonesta Great Bay Resort. SMN News learnt that the victim is the adopted daughter of Attorney at Law Edwin Maduro.
Information reaching SMN News states that the girl lives in Nazareth Dutch Quarter. SMN News learnt that the young woman's body was found in the trunk of her own vehicle. Maduro it is understood owns a black car.
Police Spokesman Ricardo Henson said police was called to the scene around 4am Tuesday morning where they discovered the body. Henson refused to say if the young woman was missing or kidnapped as it is being rumored in her neighborhood. However, he did confirm that the body was found in the trunk of a black vehicle and police suspected foul play.
Press Prosecutor Tineke Kamps also confirmed that police found the body of a dead woman in the trunk of a vehicle. Kamps said the body of the victim bore marks of violence that gives police enough reason to begin a murder investigation which started the moment they found the body. SMN News asked Kamps what types of marks of violence was found on the victim she said that information cannot be disclosed and futhermore an autopsy would have to be conducted.
The murder of Lizcania Maduro is the fifth murder committed for the year 2014, Chief Commissioner of Police Peter de Witte confirmed that the first two murders police almost solved because they already have the culprits who committed the murders behind bars. De Witte said that the police are pleading with members of the public to come forward with information that will assist the police in solving the murder that took place in Cole Bay, the one on A.Th Illidge Road and the latest one that was committed sometime during the night of September 1st to September 2nd 2014. Persons that have information can contact the police tip line 9300 or make contact with the detective department. The top cop said that all information recieved from the public will be treated confidentially.
Female found dead in trunk of car.
On Tuesday morning September 2nd, 2014 at approximately 4:30am, a lady with initials R.M.O. from the Dominican Republic arrived at the Philipsburg Police Station and reported that her daughter L.M.M.O (24) also born in the Dominican Republic left for work on Monday September 1st at 6:00am and did not return from work at 3:00pm. Her daughter did not call to inform her where she was. This behavior was very unusual for her daughter. R.M.O. also stated that she had been searching throughout the night for her daughter without any success. Shortly after making her report, a close friend of her daughter tracked the approximate location of her cellular telephone via the GPS tracking-system, which was in the Nazareth area. Immediately the police was informed of that information and a patrol was sent to investigate. In Nazareth Estate in the vicinity of the "Cockpit" the patrol located a small black Hyundai Accent. During the investigation the officers searched the entire vehicle and found the lifeless body of a female in the trunk of the car. Noting the condition the body was found in the investigating officers knew that foul play was involved. The Police Central Dispatch was immediately informed of the situation and the area was closed off to preserve the crime scene. Detectives and Forensic Department were sent to the scene to do an in depth investigation. Dr. Mercuur pronounced the death of the victim and the body has been confiscated for further investigation. The investigation is in its preliminary stages and a lot has to be done to determine what happen, why and who is the one or ones are that are responsible for this act. The police Department is therefore making an appeal to the public asking anyone who may have any information that could shed some light on this case to immediately get in contact with the detective department or use the tip line # 9300.
Police locate three stolen vehicles.
On Tuesday September 2nd, 2014 at approximately 7:20am while searching the surrounding area where the female victim's car was found, police found three stolen vehicles hidden deep inside thick bushes, which were partially stripped. They were a brown Suzuki Vitara, a dark grey Hyundai i10 and a silver colored Hyundai i20. All three vehicles were confiscated for further investigation.
