CHTA PRESIDENT ATTENDS CRUISE LINE CELEBRATIONS.

PHILIPSBURG:--- Emil Lee, President of the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA), and General Manager of Princess Heights Hotel, St. Maarten, attended the naming celebration for the Royal Princess and the launch of Princess Cruises 50th Anniversary celebrations here.

"Accepting the invitation to attend the cruise line's celebration is part of CHTA's mission to broaden and improve cooperation with key stakeholders in the Caribbean," Mr. Lee said.

"The contributions of the cruise industry to Caribbean tourism has been tremendous and, despite our past differences between land-based interests and the cruiselines, we can do so much more working together to promote our destinations," Mr. Lee added.

During the celebration event, Mr. Lee met with Micky Arison, Chairman of Carnival Corporation, which owns Princess Cruises. Mr. Lee, in his position as President of CHTA represents the interests of the hotel industry across more than 30 destinations in the Caribbean with hundreds of hotel members as well as hundreds of allied companies representing the airlines, cruiselines, tour operators, restaurants, shops and other suppliers to the tourism industry.
