Three Gunmen Robbed Atlantis Casino Sunday Morning --- Security Guard Shot.

Suspects Escaped to the French Side

CUPECOY:--- Three gunmen stormed into Atlantis Casino on Sunday morning around 11:30 am and robbed the gaming establishment of an unknown amount of monies. During the broad daylight robbery the robbers shot a security guard in his leg. The suspects escaped from law enforcement in a small blue vehicle that headed over the French border.
The robbery of Atlantis Casino on Sunday morning made it the third casino that was robbed recently.
Chief Commissioner of Police Peter de Witte confirmed that an armed robbery took place at the Atlantis Casino just before midday on Sunday. De Witte also confirmed that one person was shot in his leg, he said the suspects were dressed in female garments when they committed the robbery. He said the detective department is busy investigating the case and that they also informed their French counterparts because the culprits escaped to the French side.

Attempted armed robbery/security guard shot.

On Sunday November 16th, 2014 at approximately 12:00 p.m. several police patrols, detectives and paramedics were sent to the Atlantis Casino in the Cupe Coy area to investigate a robbery at that establishment. On the scene the investigating officers learnt that three suspects, all dressed like females, entered the casino and threatened the cashier with a gun with the intention to rob the establishment. The security guard who was alerted of the ongoing situation confronted the suspects at which time he was shot in the legs. The suspects were prevented from taking any cash and immediately fled the scene, possibly in a small car, after the shooting of the guard. The victim was treated on the scene by paramedics and then transported to the Sint Maarten Medical Center for further treatment. Detectives were on the scene interviewing witnesses and the Forensic Department collecting evidence. No one has been arrested so far in this investigation.
