MARIGOT:--- An early morning shooting took place in the vicinity of Ambulance des Iles du Nord and E-Center early Tuesday morning. According to eyewitnesses and persons working in the immediate area they heard two gunshots. One person who spoke to SMN News on the condition of anonymity said when they heard the shots they looked outside and they did not see anything, but a few minutes after they saw people gathering in the area. "What happened then is that personnel from Ambulance des Iles du Nord came out and tried to give assistance to the victim who received two gunshots. The ambulance personnel tried to stop the bleeding because the victim who is in his late 20's or early 30's received two gunshots, one in his chest area and one on his lower body. After that the Samu and the Gendarmes were notified to take over." The person that spoke to SMN News made clear that the victim does not work for either of the two businesses where the shooting took place in Rue Victor Maurasse.
The Gendarmes conducted their investigations while the victim was transported to the Louis Constant Fleming Hospital for treatment. Efforts made to reach the Commandant and Captain of the Gendarmerie proved futile as they were all on the scene investigating.

Captain of the Gendarmerie Slyvian Jouault confirmed that a 25 year old man was shot around 10am on Tuesday morning at Rue Maurasse. Jouault said the victim is living in Sandy Ground and is of Antillean decent. The Captain of the Gendarmerie has issued a called to persons who witnessed the broad daylight shooting to contact the Gendarmerie by calling "17" or going to the Brigade in La Savane. Jouault said persons that have information can provide that information to the Gendarmerie under anonymous conditions. He urged persons who saw the shooter or shooters to contact the investigators. As for the victim he said he was badly injured but up to the time the interview was conducted the man was still alive. When asked if the shooting sparked from an ongoing argument or fight that began Monday night, Jouault said that is what they suspected but that too is under investigation.
