GEBE Supervisory Board of Directors met with Council of Ministers on Thursday.

PHILIPSBURG:--- The Supervisory Board of Directors of GEBE met with the Council of Ministers on Thursday to provide information government requested from the government owned company.
SMN News learnt that the board met with government mostly to give full explanation as to why they took the decision not to renew the contract for the Chief Operations Officer Romelio Maduro and also why they sought legal representation.
The Prime Minister of St. Maarten indicated earlier that he will be ordering a forensic investigation at GEBE. On Wednesday night Prime Minister Marcel Gumbs stressed at the opening of the renovated departure lounge at PJIAE that there will be some major changes at government owned companies. He said two weeks ago these companies do not only have government at arms-length but they have government at body length and this he said has to change.
It is understood that at the meeting with the Supervisory Board of Directors of GEBE the Council of Ministers made clear that government will take the necessary measures to ensure that proper procedures are followed and persons are not being victimized. Efforts made to reach Prime Minister Marcel Gumbs on Thursday proved futile.
